Accomodations

Please be advised that for all test accommodations it is the College Board or ACT that decides whether or not your child qualifies. If you have any questions about eligibility decisions, please contact either College Board Services for Students with Disabilities or ACT Services for Students with Disabilities.  .   Students seeking accommodations should apply as early as possible (end of sophomore year) to ensure ample time to appeal if the initial request is denied. Up-to-date diagnostic testing (within the last three years) is helpful for most applicants, and a necessity for recently diagnosed students or those who are not receiving accommodations in school.

SAT

Students who need testing accommodations for the PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Test, and AP tests at Arbor View High School should contact their counselor.  The counselor will forward the information to our SSD Coordinator who will then submit the request online to College Board. If documentation is required, such as testing or medical information, it is the parent’s responsibility to provide appropriate documentation.

Students who have a documented disability but do not receive accommodations at school may still apply for accommodations on the PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, or AP tests.  Please contact your child’s counselor to further discuss this process.  Please note that the Approval Process can take seven weeks.

ACT

If requesting extended time for the ACT exam, the student must register online to take the ACT and print out the admission ticket. Download and complete the Application for ACT Extended Time at Application For Extended Time and return the completed application to the student's counselor.  The information will be turned over to the SSD Coordinator who will fill in the school information and verify the student's disability. The student and parent must mail the application along with a copy of the admission ticket to ACT. If documentation is required, it is the parent's responsibility to include this with the application and admission ticket. If you are requesting more than time and a half extended time, testing over multiple days, and/or alternate test formats, do not register online. Instead, download and complete the Request for ACT Special Testing Request For Special Testing .  The ACT deadline is, roughly, a month prior to the test.
